Reshape and Revitalize Your Neck
With time, the skin on the neck becomes saggy and loose. A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can impart a youthful appearance to the neck again. A neck lift refers to a number of techniques that can be performed to reshape the neck. The surgery can effectively remove lines and wrinkles, tighten loose folds of skin, and remove excess fat from your neck area.
Neck Lift – Steps and Procedures
The neck lift can combine a number of techniques to reshape your neck. Your doctor can best determine which techniques are right for you. • To remove excess skin from your neck, your doctor may perform a cervicoplasty. The procedure may require a few hours to complete and is ideal for people carrying excess weight. Your surgeon will make incisions under the chin and also around the ears (if necessary) to tighten the neck skin and trim away excess drooping skin. • To tighten loose platysmal muscle tissue, your doctor may perform a platysmaplasty. The incisions may be under the neck and also behind your ears. Depending on the requirement of the surgery, your doctor may also remove sagging muscle tissue as needed. The procedure can be completed in an hour or less. • To remove fat from the neck area, your doctor is most likely to perform liposuction. Through the incisions behind your ears and under your chin, the doctor will suction fat from your neck area using a cannula. The surgery may require up to two hours.
Neck Lift – Recovery
The recovery process for neck lift surgery will depend on techniques performed during your procedure. You can most likely return to your daily schedule within two weeks. The actual recovery time also depends on the specifics of each case, including the general health of the patient. Swelling from the surgery subsides within a few days. Depending on your procedure, you may have a little bruising, which heals within a weak. Light bruising is normal during any cosmetic surgical procedure. Neck lift surgery may be performed under general or local anesthesia. Your doctor will offer you the option for either, and your recovery from surgery may also depend on this choice. You may require a little more time to recover from general anesthesia after the surgery before you can go home.
Neck Lift – Results
A neck lift is a great way to remove creases and lines from under the chin and on the nearby neck skin. After the surgery, your neck can look visibly tighter and smoother. With it, you can get rid of loose skin and fat from your neck for a youthful appearance. You can also remove the “turkey wattle” look from your neck. Results from the neck lift surgery should last for a long time. The area will look natural after the surgery as opposed to having a “worked on” appearance. You may be able to combine your neck lift with other facial-rejuvenation procedures, which will allow you to match the revitalized skin on your neck with other areas of the face.
